Silicon Iron Bronze C65620 / AMS 4616, is the preferred choice for bearing races and cages. This alloy’s high strength is derived from additional iron content that provides added strength while still offering a very low coefficient of friction due to the addition of silicon.
The aerospace marketplace has designed in this alloy for bearing cages in roller, pin and ball bearing designs as a retainer or “roller separator”. AMS 4616 low friction properties ensure a longer life over typical bronzes and steels.
